What's the Idea?

I'm creating a series of three limited edition prints that are formed out of art from hundreds of artists around the world.

There are many great artists from all countries, backgrounds and age groups that use many different styles and mediums to do what they do best. To be able to create a unique piece of art using all of these artists would be an amazing achievement. I would like to unite a small section of these artists and help promote their work online and via these Limited Edition Prints. The prints will contain thumbnail sized images of work from all the artists that are involved. Any artists can be involved from only £2 GBP ($4 USD / 3 EU approx) and in return for this one off small payment the artists will get:

A substantially sized image on this website which acts as a link to their online portfolio or website with a short description that pops up when someone points the mouse at their image.

A space at least 30mm2 on a Limited Edition Art print that will be available to the public worldwide when the print has been filled.

The opportunity to get their art in front of the masses and along side some of the most talented artists in the world (check out the artists that have already put there art on the prints). Only time will tell how many people will see it, but I plan to work hard on spreading the word about the website, prints and hopefully make it a resource for art buyers.

And last but not least, every artist that is involved will get the opportunity to purchase a special edition of the final print that they're in. The artist will be able to sign these as they will have a specific space for the artist's signature. Making these prints unique.

Here is an example of how a print will look when complete (subject to slight changes in dimensions)

  A: Print title and Name.

B: The area where all the images go.

C: The name's of the artists that are featured in the print in order of the date the blocks were purchased.

D: Stamp embossed in the corner for authenticity.

E: A box for the artist to sign. (only printed on the artist's personal copy)

F: Each print will be numbered by hand.

There are 196 separate blocks available on each print, that's 588 in total. I wanted to give each person a significant space when printed (approx 30mm2 per block) otherwise images would end up unrecognisable.

The online versions will grow until all the blocks are full. Then, 500 numbered prints of each one will then be made. Up to 196 of them will be the special edition's available for the artists themselves. They will be able to sign these and the rest will be  available to buy via this site. They will be sold close to cost price so that they hopefully sell fast. The price that I'm hoping to sell them for is £29.99 plus P&P from the UK. ($52 USD,  €44 EU)

The idea is to physically spread the work around the world. The project is perfect for the internet due to the unlimited marketing potential but I wanted to produce an actual product that can be hung on walls around the world. That is, after all what art is about. When someone see's an image they like on the 'real' print they can come to this website to find your image and be directed to the artists own website. The three virtual replicas will be built on this site acting as links to the artists websites even when it's complete. (top)

Why isn't it free?
There are two reasons why I am asking for a small payment for people to be involved:

1) Most of the money will be spent on promoting the website and actually producing the prints. The plan is to promote the work of the artists involved and as an artist myself, I'm looking forward to what may lie ahead.

2) If I made it free, I would get thousands upon thousands of people submitting images so that they can be involved. I want these prints to include artists that are really serious about their art and can take the time to choose there best work and be proud to be a part of this project. I feel that it is a very small price to pay to have your art as part of this exclusive project. (top)

Why Should I?
Good question!

If you don't want to promote your art then this is not the site for you. However, if you're interested in having your art included as a substantial sized section in a Limited Edition Print that will be distributed around the world, or, interested in having an image and link to your site on this art site that will be viewed by many over the coming years, it's a must. There's only a small number of blocks available on each print so if you don't get one, someone else will. (top)

Who are you?
My name is Andrew Brimble. I'm a young artists/designer and sell my work through the UK company RetroCanvas. I have sold my paintings to customers all over the world and have featured in some reputable UK publications. These include FHM (June 05), Boys Toys (Jan 06), Volks World and Classic Car Weekly. I have also exhibited in a number of exhibitions where my art was well received and am currently working on paintings for my own exhibition as well as commissions that come through via the RetroCanvas website.

I strive to offer great art to all those who want it. I work from my home on commissioned paintings that come my way and I enjoy every minute of it.

I know how hard it is to survive in the art world and thought that by helping others to promote their work, it would help me too. I really believe that this idea can be a success and with the amount of artists that are already supporting me I think that its just a matter of time before the prints are in the making. (top)

Can my image/s be stolen from your site?
As with all website's, users can simply take a screen shot of the page and get your image. With this site, as your image will be relatively small and save in the gif format, if someone did just that and tried to enlarge it, it would become pixelated and worthless to use. (top)

Can I link to the Artists-United website from my own?

Of course you can, It's vital that the people who feel that this project can become a success spread the word via as many means as they can. Please use the pre-made banners that I have created by copying the code below one of the banners and paste it into note pad. Then copy it from notepad and past it into the HTML of your web page.
